Activities - Glenelg has a population of about
300, set in a very tranquil and peaceful place with breathtaking
scenery. Situated on the mainland coast opposite the Isle of
Sky this is an ideal base to explore the west coast. The local
ferry over the sea to Sky the Isle of Sky is 3 miles away, or
the Bridge now free is 17 miles. There is an abundance of walks
of various severities from 5-minute walk to the local shop and
inn, along the coast or glen, and hill walking from gentle walks
to the five sisters of Kintail. There are many other activities
in the surrounding area including fishing. Of historic interest
are the Pictish Brochs, General Wades Barracks, Sandaig where
Gavin Maxwell lived with his otters and from which the film
Ring of Bright Water was made.
